Neapolitan Mastiff Rescue Information: The Neapolitan Mastiff is a massive, imposing dog with droopy facial folds. Despite its intimidating appearance, the Neapolitan Mastiff is a loving family guardian. A Neapolitan Mastiff does best with a master who has experience with dogs and exudes leadership. This breed can be socialized to get along well with children and other pets, but two males of this species will butt heads. Neapolitan Mastiffs can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard.

Neapolitan Mastiff Trivia: A primary ancestor of the Neapolitan Mastiff is the Tibetan Mastiff, the oldest breed of dog on the planet. Ancient Romans used the Neapolitan Mastiff for arena combat. Neapolitan Mastiffs are descended from a breed of huge dog that existed in ancient Greece and ancient Rome called the Molossus.
